The National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association, NOUNAA, has launched its 2025 scholarship campaign, offering N50,000 tuition grants to prospective students nationwide.
At a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, the President of the association, Ifeanyi Obukwelu, revealed that the campaign is not just a scholarship programme but a strategic initiative to bridge financial gaps and eliminate entry barriers.
Mr Obukwelu noted that the initiative aims to bridge the knowledge gap by awarding scholarships.
He added that the scholarship is also intended to contribute to building a knowledgeable, skilled, and inclusive Nigeria, while countering scepticism about distance learning.
He explained that the scholarship programme is fully sponsored by alumni donations, reflecting NOUNAA’s commitment to giving back to society.
“Our alumni once stood where prospective students stand today, they are now rewriting the narrative for the next generation,” he said.
Mr Obukwelu further stated that while the scholarship is open to all applicants, it is primarily targeted at underserved communities, with a call to ensure flexible, quality education reaches those hindered by financial constraints.
He added that the campaign also serves as advocacy for NOUN’s credibility, aiming to enhance the visibility and public acceptance of the institution, which has produced graduates excelling across various industries.
He urged prospective students to apply immediately through: www.nounonline.nou.edu.ng.
